I have been staying in Dubai for a while now ( 15 years or so ) .Dubai Shopping Festival started off in 1996 , It was a major sensation since then.The whole city used to be lighted up , festive environment , fire crackers , activities , competitions .FUN FUN FUN , every where !

I used to regret , I used to live back in Sharjah . I used to feel left out on lot of fun as a kid.We used to go every week ends to Dubai , to feel the festive vibe ( but you know , just couldn't get enough... ).I remember walking my legs of in Global Village. ( Nostalgic.... )

Every year they used to change the location for Global Village , because the parking space always proved insufficient . Over the period of time , the countries exhibiting increased , visitors increased and their cars too.Walking through those big parking lots was a pain trust me ! ( C'mon I was too little , I had small legs , so I had to take more steps than the grown ups + I was lazy , I hope you people understand... ).

It actually lost its charm when they increased the time span of Global Village sometime in last 3 years to 3 months instead of few days over a month. I kind of feel that proved disastrous and they screwed it up further next year , when they made global village permanent and that is when it all got screwed .Global Village which is used to be one of the key attraction of DSF , was no more something worth to look forward to , as it was open all year long now.

Last two years , I feel the whole spirit level was down. The amount of decorative lighting decreased . The advertisement levels were down.It wasn't all that hyped up as before.There were sale and discounts all over but it did lack the feel.

The DSF Is on now , trust me I don't feel shit . Only thing , there are discounts on my favorite brands and all.News papers hardly cover any thing because there is nothing to cover.

I miss old days , when Dubai was a much more better place to live in , less traffic , lesser cost of living , less people ! Damn Damn , Memories ! ( Shit I am almost 18 and I am talking like old people... Not good... )
