Ground Reality of the New Decency Law

July29

Its been in the news paper now , CID troubling kids and teenagers for metal and silver accessories. They’ve revived the 8 year old decency law. Its really not about making “Sharjah” a decent emirate . Its more about cleaning popular hang out spots.

There are three major malls in Sharjah Sahara , Mega Mall and City center . Sahara is too far off and City center really does not have much to offer to the teens which makes Mega Mall a very popular destination to hangout .

The problem is , there are far too many teens hanging out there. Dressed in the kinkiest of outfit and looking all gangsterish . Trust me , It does freak families off.

Megamall has taken steps to cleanup . Play area is not accessible by a teen unless he is accompanied by a senior , Family time you know….

They don’t allow people to loiter around in the food court region , they come again and again to check if you really have ordered something and are not sitting there simply to kill time . It gets annoying , but they’ve got their reasons .

The security does all he can to be a pain in the ass.

All this hasn’t really worked so they came up with a new plan , Revive the old decency law. This will allow them greater mobility than earlier times where all they could do was to kick one out of the mall. Now they could send him to jail or fine them.

They have been pricking on the smallest of things , A CID may ask you about a small black band on your hand , which is not at all relevant. The decency law has just become an added tool to keep teens out of malls and harass them in their popular hang out spot.

If harassing teens for no valid reason makes them happy so be it .
